O what an everlasting cry! What a weeping! What a lamentation of ordinary religious men, backsliders and hypocrites in hell! What an eternal cry of the beautiful, well educated and learned, even the ignorant, which so trusted the world for their security and now languish in hell. What an eternal regret for men and women who lived without Christ! What a damning future! What a damning future for all who are here and yet still refuse to cling to the cross, playing with their salvation. You may eat as you like, drink as you like, act the way you please and dress as deems you fit, yet hell awaits your arrival. The world may not tell you, but here we will – THERE IS NO REPENTANCE IN HELL. And there is no excuse whatsoever for a person to end in hell. You may claim that it was the fault of your father or that of your mother, who was strict, cruel, cold or harsh toward you, yet you are inexcusable! O man, the Scriptures say explicitly that THOU ART INEXCUSABLE! For in it also, we are told that if thy right hand causes you to sin, you must cut it off; whatsoever causes you to sin must be cut off. Sin kills, destroys and damns. It ends anyone, who yields to it, in hell. Remember, THERE IS NO HOLIDAY IN HELL. According to Matthew 25:30, we see that he who was righteous TILL THE END was ushered into the Kingdom of Heaven while those who sinned were cast into hell. This God is Just. He remains truthful in His ways, holy in His nature and right in His conduct. He would never deal unjustly with anyone. In Luke 16:22, the Scriptures relate that there was a man called Lazarus who was poor, yet at death, was ushered into the bosom of Abraham. Why? This man wasn’t let in at the Pearl Gates because he was poor and had suffered much, but instead because though he was poor, yet he held firm his integrity. He remained true to his God and at his death, the angels celebrated him. You must know that there are still many poor men, beggars who would miss Heaven, not because they are poor, but because they have not been reconciled with God through His Son; they don’t know Him. There is always joy in Heaven over even one soul that repents; that one soul causes a joyful commotion in Heaven, making glad the heart of God-Luke 15:7. This also is the case with that righteous soul which comes home- the hosts of Heaven rejoices. Lazarus died a beggar, we don’t know if he was even buried by man because such a detail wasn’t mentioned, yet he was carried, escorted, guarded and accompanied by angels into Heaven, the minute he closed his eyes. But in hell, he opened his own eyes. Who? The rich man, the one who trusted in his wealth, relied upon his riches and gambled with his soul. He had it all while yet living, but in hell, he cried… The rich also cry. He languished greatly in hell for his works done on earth. An act performed may have been religious, rebellious, or hypocritical, yet it is enough to end one in hell. When you refuse to accept Christ into your life, the enemy gains hold of you, he begins to wait for your arrival. The rich man who had been rich in this world, and whose burial was even mentioned, died and ended in hell, not because he was rich, but because he refused to accept the Son of God as Savior-Psalms 46:6-11. And in hell, he suffered so much, and upon seeing Abraham in Heaven with Lazarus at his bosom, he requested that Lazarus just dip “a” finger of his in water that he might cool his (the rich man’s) tongue. Just a finger in water…. The rich man in our text represents the religious Christians on earth, who though serve God faithfully, yet have refused to walk with Him faithfully. He connotes the sinners, backsliders, wicked and hypocrites who pursue the earth, unmindful of Heaven. He represents all who are yet to return to their Maker, yet to be reconciled with Him and yet to prepare for His coming. This rich man had many friends, family members and much societal influence and thus he was well celebrated on earth at his death, while he cried bitterly in hell. It wasn’t his riches that got him there, for even a rich person can as well make it into the Kingdom of Heaven. But instead, his CONTINUAL TRUSTING in his wealth landed him in that cruel place. Psalms 11:6.
We know that the poor beggar in Luke 16 was named, for Jesus Himself said that his name was Lazarus; but the man with so much wealth was not even properly named. He was characterized by that in which he trusted, he was called the Rich Man. Why? It is because the name of every sinner on earth is inconsequential, insignificant and unimportant because Heaven has no record of their lives. And sadly, hell has no respect for the rich, well connected, beautiful, ugly, educated, unlearned, happy or sad; it cares less who comes into it as much as it cares and desires that they come. Lazarus was a beggar, yet his name was known. His righteousness caused that his name be written in the Lamb’s Book of the cleansed, and at death, it gave him a place in the father of the faithful. Only those who do God’s will do hell reject! The true righteous ones who do the will of God are always rejected by hell, for their righteousness can cause commotion in hell; even the devil flees from their presence. But again, the teacher, singer, writer, preacher, laborer or sinful man and woman, who dies in his sin will Heaven reject! Neither can contain a soul whose nature is contrary to its own nature. And hell enlarges its mouth every day—Isaiah 5:13-15.
Men around the world and at this moment are calling out, “Lord, Lord…” to the One who reigns in the Heavens above, yet not to all will He answer-Matthew 7:21-23. Sin prevents their voice from reaching the Throne of Grace, yet when they die, they would claim to have heard Him preach in their street corners, claim to have seen him and even claim to have called upon Him, yet He would say, “…Depart from Me, for I know thee not…” If job hunt, working in the ministry, gaining heights in your field of learning, and so many more ‘religious’ stuff will cause you to “freely enter” hell, the Bible says that we better cut it off. They are the hands, feet, eyes and body parts which have power to stop your Heavenly pursuit. Mark 9:43-48.
No man on earth has power against death. Most men who once were highly revered on earth have been defeated by that spirit called death. They have gone to give detailed accounts of how they had spent their own lives…rich and poor, strong and weak. Goliath couldn’t resist death, Pharaoh, world leader of the ancient times couldn’t defy death, Alexander the Great couldn’t oppose it and so has it been for all no longer living. Remember that no cult group, military group, shrine or power on earth can go against death- Ecclesiastes 8:8. None can save in any other name, except in that Name Which is a Strong Tower- Proverbs 18:10. God is angry with the wicked everyday… Psalms 7:11
And when He is angry who can stand? Amos 9:1-6, Revelation 6:14-17… NO ONE!!! Hebrews 2:1-4.
Hell is a place of weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth; YOU MUST AVOID IT BY ALL MEANS. Mark 9:43-48
ESCAPE FOR YOUR LIFE NOW!!! GENESIS 19:16-17…
REMAIN BLESSED!!!
